MIRADOR DE SAMARA LAVA WALK
Mirador de Samara is short but very cool hike located in Teide Park. Not only it is less popular among other trails in Tenerife, it also allows you to walk on lava fields as well as (after a short detour) seeing Cuevas Negras. Very interesting set of caves carved inside of the volcanic grounds. If you’re looking for an easy, short yet rewarding adventure in Teide Park, Mirador de Samara is what you’re after. I promise!

MY EXPERIENCE OF HIKING MIRADOR DE SAMARA
Mirador de Samara begins right at the car park called “Mirador de Samara”. We started with a little detour to the left to get a bit higher up to have a look at the surrounding area. Right after, we followed the trail facing the majestic Teide. If you haven’t climbed Teide yet, read my guide: HIKING TEIDE MOUNTAIN – EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW.
From the very beginning this hike is all about walking on the volcanic dust fields with some views of another planet’s-like scenery. I’ve hiked the whole Teide Park throughout my stay in Tenerife, yet every time I walk on these lava fields, they always leave me stunned. There’s definitely something about it that make the whole experience unforgettable!
Getting closer to Teide, slightly after a few kilometres, we reached the famous lava tubes called Cuevas Negras in Teide National Park. How sad they’re actually closed! The first cave felt almost like a little canyon, it’s a great spot to take some pics before moving on. We actually thought it was a perfect spot for a quick lunch and a drink so we played around it for a while.
After a longer while we decided to head back. On the way, the clouds slowly started catching up which honestly was a blessing, considering how hot the weather was during the whole hike. We passed by this cute little shrine, and walked our way back ‘inside’ the clouds at that point.
I hope you enjoyed reading this guide and will find Mirador de Samara hike as fun as we did! It’s without a doubt a very cool, short adventure doable by everyone. If you have any questions just drop a comment below.
