MY EXPERIENCE OF HIKING BARRANCO DEL INFIERNO

Prior to the start of hiking Barranco del Infierno we gad to pick up a helmet and listen to a short instruction provided by the staff. Nothing unusual here, basically just remember to stay on the trail, do not litter and make sure to come back on time. Similar experience to a check-in at Masca Gorge Hike. The trail itself is well marked, it’s probably impossible to get lost there.

The first 15 minutes is just a flat walk, there are a few viewpoints of the ravine that looks quite spectacular. After a while the trail then descends into the ravine. Don’t forget to look behind, Adeje looks amazing from there!

Walking through the ravine of Barranco del Infierno reminded me of the famous Masca Gorge Hike I did earlier that year. Both of those trails are sort of a canyon walks, Barranco del Infierno is obviously easier and probably more suitable for families. You can read about my experience hiking the famous Masca Gorge here.

After crossing a little bridge, we descended again and came some stairs. The trail goes along the river bed and after 10 minutes, we kinda felt like we were in the Jurassic Park film. Our walk was accompanied with the sounds of frogs and birds singing very, very loud. Such a magical experience!

Walking in between of those gigantic rocks felt really cool, after a while we have finally reached the famous waterfall, the biggest one in Tenerife. Not gonna lie, it’s quite unusual to see a waterfall in such a dry area. There’s usually a lot of people around it so you have to be patient to get a nice shot. We took couple of pictures, ate a quick snack and decided to head back.

CONCLUSION

Barranco del Infierno is a great hike for families and anyone who’s looking for an easy and short adventure. It’s definitely a great way to spend time outdoors and experience stunning lush vegetation in Tenerife.
