MY EXPERIENCE WITH PRAINHA DE BAIXO STROLL
This little adventure kicked off in the heart of Prainha de Baixo, right by the town’s charming church. From the start, it feels a bit like stepping into a postcard. The cobblestone streets led us downhill toward the ocean, where the swimming area teased us with its dramatic waves crashing against the rocky coast. Swimming might be a bold move here, but it’s a mesmerizing spot for photos or just soaking in the view.

From the ocean, the trail transitions into rugged volcanic lava fields. The contrast between the dark rocks and the surrounding greenery is striking – classic Pico. As the path gently inclines, it leads toward a lush laurel forest. This part of the trail was my favorite: the scent of the trees, the vibrant green tones, and the occasional curious cow made it feel like a hidden retreat.

After a bit of incline, the trail starts to descend back toward the village. On the way down, we stumbled upon a snack bar perfectly perched for a quick break. A pastel de nata (or two) later, we were back on track, finishing the walk with some lovely views of the coastline and the town below. The entire route is dotted with little gems that make you slow down and appreciate the blend of nature and local culture. It’s an easy-going experience, but it doesn’t lack charm or surprises.

CONCLUSION
The Prainha de Baixo Stroll is a short and sweet adventure perfect for those who want to experience Pico’s charm without committing to a long trek. It’s an ideal trail for families, casual hikers, or anyone looking to explore the island’s unique beauty at a relaxed pace.
